After 4 years together, Doc Oc had to call it a day. But not without one last gig to celebrate!
The original 4 band members formed together for one last gig, after trading as a 3-piece band for quite some time and more recently a 2-piece. So this last gig was going to be massive with all four members, Alex, Anthony, Will and Tristan!
Unfortunately, I missed the first 2 acts for the night: Jordan Slattery and Emergence. They usually play awesome sets so I’m sure tonight was like no other gig!
Next up was Double Lined Minority, all the way from Queensland with their Closure Tour. I’d seen this band on their last tour to Adelaide at The Cavern, although new tour, new hair colour. This time vocalist, Eddie, had purple hair to rock the release of their new song Closure and current Australian Tour. This was the first show of their tour, after this they would go to Sydney, Melbourne, Toowoomba and back to their hometown Brisbane. They once again, blew me away with their lively and energetic performances! Definitely a band I would recommend listening to or seeing live if you haven’t already!
One of the best punk-jumping bands, Down With The Ship were up next. With their pop punk/easycore tunes, they really got the crowd pumped up, dancing and singing along. They finished off with Jake climbing onto Liam’s shoulders, while still playing bass. Although they do this at nearly every show, I still get amazed by it every time.
With only releasing their Pizza Song a few weeks previously, Doc Oc still had the crowd singing every word to this and all their other songs. So many mic grabs from the crowd and dancing around. At the end, Tristan had put his all into the set and was lying on the stage. The crowd chanted ‘one more song’ and they kept going.
This was by far a night to remember. A great way to send off Doc Oc! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for them, but for now I think I’ll be listening to their Pizza Song on repeat 😀
